- Understand the social, physical, and cognitive benefits of early years education.
- Learn about how diversity can be celebrated both at home and in nursery, and the benefits that this can have for children.
- Understand how to improve a child’s language and communication skills, and why this is necessary to support their learning.
In this module of the course we will cover:
- Look at the key concepts and principles surrounding childcare and development, including the Leuven scale, and understand how to apply them.
- Understand how and why the emotional environment that a child is in is imperative to their wellbeing and development.
- Understand the importance of both indoor and outdoor environments for a child when it comes to their development.
In this module of the course we will cover:
- To learn about the importance of exercise for children and how this can aid multiple types of development, though primarily physical.
- Understand how practitioners and caregivers can make exercise fun to increase the likelihood of a child enjoying it and continuing on with it as they develop.
- To look at how nutrition should be paired with exercise to keep a child fit and healthy.
In this module of the course we will cover:
- Outline the stages and milestones that children should be reaching in their emotional development in early years.
- Understand how transitions can affect the emotional wellbeing of a child.
- Look at some statistics regarding mental health in children, and learn about how practitioners can support those who are showing signs of mental anguish.
In this module of the course we will cover:
- To learn about how practitioners and caregivers can support equality, and create inclusive environments for children to thrive in.
- Understand how children with additional needs can be supported both in facilities and at home.
- Understand how different family structures can affect a child’s development, and what practitioners can do to help with this.
In this module of the course we will cover:
- Understand how observations and assessments can be carried out effectively, and how and why they should be used to inform future planning.
- To learn how children should be supported by key people in their life during the transition from nursery to school.
- Understand where third party support can be found should caregivers and practitioners need it.
In this module of the course we will cover:
- To understand the general stages of social development and attachment, and use these to measure a child’s social and emotional progress.
- Learn the different types of attachment types in relation to caregivers.
- Understand some of the external factors that affect social and emotional development, as well as the nurture vs nature argument.
In this module of the course we will cover:
- Understand cognitive development and the different stages involved in this during early years.
- Look at different cognitive processes and how they present themselves in young children.
- Understand some of the problematic influences on cognitive development and the issues that can arise as a result of these.
In this module of the course we will cover:
- Learn about specific types of language development, including phonological and morpho-syntactic.
- Understand the stages of communication, and what children of each age range should be able to engage in.
- Learn about why communication is so important, and what can happen if children do not acquire these skills.
The final assessment test is an online interactive examination containing 50 questions to be completed within a 60 minute time frame.
The final assessment will contain questions from all modules and topics covered within the course.
The results from the final assessment test will count 100% towards the final grade for the course.
The results are instantaneous so learners will be informed straight away as to how they have performed on the assessment.
If for any reason you don’t pass first time around you have unlimited exam retakes.
